germ-phobia

Today I’m planning to go to immigration to renew my resident return visa. Then I’m lucky enough to look up in white pages first (before I go) and found out that they have another branch office here in Parramatta. Yipi.. so I don’t have to go all the way to city then.

Then in immigration foyer, I get the information from security guard that the resident visa’s counter is in level 3.

Few seconds after that, my hand automatically search for any small paper or tissue in my bag, use it to cover my own finger, and press the ‘up arrow’ lift button.

And I go into the lift, I use the same tissue to press number 3 button.

As all the process goes smooth from beginning to the moment they finally issue the visa’s sticker and stick it to my passport. So far so good. Happy, and easy..

Then I walk back to church st, heading to ANZ bank to activate my new card. So I use my passport (with new visa’s sticker) as my 10 point ID. Then all ID’s been checked out and to finally activate the card.

The lady said to me, “its all done, mam, what you need to do is pick up that phone (she’s pointing to nearby phone) and wait for the option and press number 3, the customer service will answer and you just mention your 10 digit card number and that’s it. It can be done in only 5minutes. And your card activated straight away”

Errrr… “Isnt there a sticker on the card? It has customer serv phone number. And it also saying I can call that number to activate it? isn’t it the same thing?”

“Ya, but it’s gonna take longer, you can do it here and it takes 5 minutes and that’s it.”

“That’s it?”

“Yeah.. “ She didn’t wait any longer for my further respond and she picks up the phone and about hand it to me…

Okay wait.. stop right here....

You never know what kinda people who used that phone before you, Vi.. they can be stinky man who never had shower, never clean his ears, or maybe he just coming from somewhere with loads of bug and germs inside his ear.. and all of those germs are transferred to the earphone… and when you, Vi, using that phone.. where those germs gonna go to? Your ears??

Ewwwwwww………….

That’s it.

“No thank you, I’ll do it in office.. I’m … uhmmm…. Uhmmm I’m kinda in a hurry.. J (smile her)… thank you…..”

And I just run away as quick as possible…
